About Rebecca

Things to know about me:

  • I’m a media designer at webslingerZ in Carrboro, N.C.
  • I like maps and eating frozen peas.
  • I have been known to ride my road bike 100 miles to the top of a mountain, but lately I’ve been a slacker.
  • I grew up in Horseheads, N.Y., and lived in the general vicinity until 2002.
  • I arrived in North Carolina while on a bicycle trip in 2002, and had every intention of staying no more than a day or two before continuing on to Austin, Texas. Oops.
  • I have worked as a clerk at a video store, as a copy editor at a newspaper (the same newspaper for which I delivered papers back when I was 12), as a bartender at two bars, as a waitress at a restaurant, and as a production artist at a small publishing company and an advertising agency. I hope to never do any of those things again.
  • After four years of living in Carrboro and Chapel Hill, I finally realized that Durham is quite a bit cooler than I thought and moved there.
  • I have a brother in Rochester, N.Y.; a sister in New York City; and my parents live in Horseheads.
  • I’m a dropout of Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa., where I studied industrial engineering and then journalism. I created the original web site for the Brown and White, the school’s newspaper, back in the days when NCSA Mosaic was king of the internet, and I did all my browsing with lynx.
  • I am a geek.
